Enjoyed a great day of fishing with Rich Portuese, his wife and 2 daughters catching 19 Flounders and releasing 2 short Stripers.Foggy conditions kept us at the dock an extra hour, but that did not slow the bite any, had fish on right away and picked at them all morning.Great day on the water when the fog burned off and awesome fishing.Clams , mussels and worms worked for chum and bait.Photos included. |

After a great day of fishing on Friday , I joined my brother Chris at the IGFA Dinner in Spring Lake, where I won a Custom Bogan fishing rod and reel and enjoyed a good meal with a great crowd of fishing fanatics. The highlight of the night was meeting with old and new friends, talking about fishing and whats going on in the fishing world here in NJ, which was about the recent Flounder bite here in the bay.It was a pleasure to meet Dick Kondak and his son Greg and a chance to fish with Dick the next morning for Flounder was a plan that I was looking forward to. We met at Browns Point Marina at 7:00Am , along with Dave Donahue and his friend Wayne and of course the Flounder Pounder Matt who without a doubt showed us how Flounder are caught. After loading up the Clams and gear we headed for the Flats and the Flounder were waiting,Dick started the day off with the first flattie , a nice 15 inch fish which went right in the box along with 33 other Flounder. The fishing was awesome thru the tide with all on board catching fish and having a great time.Matt was high hook AGAIN, but we knew that. Worms , mussel and clams were the bait of choice with twister tails above the hook catching quite a few of our fish.Dick it was a pleasure to fish with you and you are Welcome anytime!!My afternoon trip was a bit slower with 11 Flounder caught , Bob Spina, Mark Roy and Mike enjoyed a last hour bite to boat those flatties, along with Dave and Wayne from our morning trip.A great day fishing.Photos are included |

WOW Another incredible Flounder bite today.Capt Matt , Mike and myself again had a banner day fishing for Flounder with 6 Stripers also hitting the Mussel baits quite often today. We managed to catch 23 flatties on all three baits ( Clams , Mussel and Worms) with one throwback and a Sundial, plus our friends with wings the Skate.Fish were aggresive with a surface temp of 49 degrees we caught thru the tide and had a great time, with Matt and Mike again tying with 8 each and I had 7, biggest fish caught by Mike over 18 inches. Mikey also lost a big one on the LIFT which broke his line , Sorry Mike, but the net was there, you paid for that one. Please contact us if you want to try a combo trip for Flounder, photos are included. |
